Summary0001755: Make Distribution Node and Zenith Reserves capturables
DescriptionIt would be nice if the Distribution Nodes and Zenith Reserves were captured on planet ownership change. It would allow them to be scrapped when needed instead of having to send ships to already secured planets on the other side of the galaxy.

Eh... Oops. Minor hitch here; if the AI destroys the Zenith Reserves, I get hit with a massive AIP penalty and they get the ships. Ouch. Could it be made so that the AI doesn't auto-target the reserves and nodes?

Yeah, just set the AI not to target these things, like the other various player-controlled objects they routinely ignore.

Hmm, I just scrapped one of the reserves to keep the AI from killing it, and got nothing but the AIP for my trouble ;)

Same issue with distribution nodes, scrapping (not killing) gives nothing but AIP.

Yea really, that is the sort of oversight you would expect in an internal dev build, not a public beta release.

Its interesting that the "he who kills it gets the ships" logic is universal, not just for human players.

In fairness, Arcen's beta release schedule is best measured in [i]hours[/i], this kind of thing slips through the cracks now and again. On the up side, it's also fixed on the same schedule.

If the AI doesn't ignore these as targets, can you maybe make them invulnerable when captured so I can choose to take the AIP or not?

Coming up in the next one (tomorrow):

* Distribution nodes and zenith reserves will no longer be targeted or damaged by AI ships.

* Distribution nodes and zenith reserves that are scrapped will now give their proper benefit.


Sorry about this, it seemed an awfully simple change, and I didn't think of those ramifications. ;)
