Summary0017205: Map Rotation
DescriptionMany other city builders have the ability to rotate your view of the world (at 90 degree interval usually). With hexagons 60 degree intervals would probably also work out. Should SBR? I don't know, but I thought I'd bring it up.

Since we have some multi-tile buildings that are not symmetrical, it wouldn't be possible for us to do -- they'd get skewed as part of that process.

Sure. 90 & 60 degree rotations would be an issue, but what about 120 degree rotation? The Military Command, Graveyard, Dump, etc should work with that. Which ones am I missing?

What about potential new two-tile buildings?

I doubt we would do two-tile buildings because those get very challenging to make clear as being actually show well. We experimented with that (and a variety of other shapes), but the central connection is just too narrow to work well. So probably 3 and 7 and other symmetrical shapes are what we will stick with for larger buildings, because it fits the best.

So... that makes this one a possibility, when considering turning at smaller angles, then. I'm not sure it's needed, and I don't think it's a pre-1.0 thing at all, but it is certainly an interesting concept.

I think you mean bigger angles? If you stick to trilateral symmetry, 120 degree rotation could work without any art changes.

I don't really think it's necessary, though, and it means the convenient "wind always blows to the right" assumption stops being valid. (Depending on your rotation, it might blow upwards and to the left or downwards and to the left instead.)
