Summary | 0001694: Ships from raid engine turtle at wormhole
Description | With the new AI logic from a few patches ago, I'm seeing that ships from a raid engine will tend to turn into reinforcements. This makes it extremely difficult because the ships stack over the wormhole of an AI planet and stay there for who knows how long. As soon as you alert the raid engine again, more ships are created and exhibit the same behavior. This is quickly becoming a problem as seen on two planets in the save; Ryk and Atreus'. However, I am not completely certain that it's due to the introduced AI logic, but I assume it is.

They aren't acting as reinforcements -- note that the Threat is still quite high, I'm sure. They are just biding their time until the firepower rating of the ships waiting to go through the wormhole is at least 2x the firepower rating of what you have on the other side. Then they'll come smashing through with overwhelming force at an unexpected time, crushing your planet. Or you can go after them in the meantime, but then you have to fight on their turf. Bottom line is that they're not stupid enough to just go flinging themselves into your waiting defenses anymore. :) |

That's a _very_ difficult situation to deal with, especially with a raid engine of a higher mark. Given you have 1-3K ships to deal with the waves along with hundreds of turrets, it's always going to be a stalemate, and with raid engines spawning thousands of units in a single wave, it's extremely difficult to even try to approach the raid engine. Granted I didn't know that they would wait for 2x the firepower, it's still a very difficult situation for players to deal with if they have to travel in that direction. My save? A thousand IV ships. Verily impossible. |

Well, yes, when the AI uses smarter tactics it gets more difficult. But, you should never be in the situation you're in, having a raid engine on a planet adjacent to you: raid engines should be capped before your territory ever gets that close to them, and then you deal with whatever solitary wave they sent against you. And for a mark IV raid... yeah, that's quite an intense thing. I'm not hearing anything that sounds out of line to me here, I don't know what difficulty you're at but a lot of people have been playing on 8 that probably shouldn't have been, given that the game has temporarily been too easy for the last 6-9 months or so. Now that's fixed. :) |
