Summary | 0001536: Redirection rally post
Description | This unit would work as a rally post, but instead of the ships gathering around it, it would redirect them to another planet. That would be helpful for coordinating reinforcements (it's easier to just change the destination of one rally post on one planet rather than everything that builds and sends units to that planet). Plus, it would allow players to create patrols by setting FRD-rallies to and from planets. If more than one of these exist on a planet, the ships would randomly select one to go to, just as they do with normal rally posts. I'd imagine this would have to become a building rather than a semi-ship so that you'd be able to set rally points.

I'd like that so I can give a standing order for all reclaimed ships to retreat into a friendly system. |
|
Its even better than that, you can have these redirection posts all over your empire and have a small fleet doing patrols protecting every connected planet. Can you imagine this concept using teleporting units? Near instant response to any attack! |

"Can you imagine this concept using teleporting units? Near instant response to any attack! " Finally! A use for teleporting units >.> |

This should actually be pretty easy to put in; I will try to do so before the next official release. This elegantly gives both patrolling and cross-planet redirection, as has already been noted -- and it's technically far simpler than the longer-standing request for rally points on rally posts. |
|
How will this work with normal rally posts? Will one kind be ignored or will the ship randomly choose from both types which order to follow? [I think the latter will work best] |
|
Randomly. |
