by design - theyve always been allowed to spawn next to your homeworld. |

I've never had anything but MK Is adjacent to a homeworld until this patch. And I've started at least a hundred games by now, even if I abandoned most of them in short order. Edit: Went through a dozen save files, couldn't find a single one with even a MK II adjacent to a homeworld. Either i'm the luckiest son of a gun on the face of the planet or somethings changed. |

not sure what fantasy world your playing in, however i often (say, 1/5 perhaps) find a mk3+ planet near my homeworld. Its virtually guaranteed on 5+ adjacent sytem starts for me |

I have to agree with Lancefighter; I've often seen Mk. IV planets right next to my homeworld. |

Not necessarily Deadly. I've only seem level III or higher worlds next to my homeworld when I have more than 3 adjacent systems. If you're picking homeworlds with 4 or 5 adjacent systems you're much more likely to see a higher level system. I think AI difficulty may also play a part when seeding systems during map generation. Personally I'm seeing a lot more level III's & IV's nearer to my homeworld in v4 than I used to in v3 but this is a good change in my opinion as I'm forced to make strategic decisions in the early game about where I'm going to expand, what I'm going to capture & where I will be gate raiding rather than it simply being a case of "have blob, will conquer". |

Chances are you were using the 4.27 version (i think) which wasnt spawning any level III's or IV's |
