DescriptionKilling a guard post causes an infection to occur permanently on nearby or all ships on a planet, permanently de-buffing them. The weakness inflicted could be randomized, so sometimes it could be engine damage, sometimes it could be HP reduction, sometimes it could be permanently de-cloaking a unit, reduction in damage, and so on...

Mhh, but nothings stopping the player from simply scrapping infected ships. And if its a range or per planet, people will just reduce it to low hp and move everything off, then come in with 1 bomber or something like that.

I would like to propose an alternate mechanic, not infection but in-sector nebula that are created when a guard post dies. These do not move and spawn in the "inner" area of the sector, and have differing stats (kinda like the suggestion above says).

This would 1) Not make this annoying or easy to cheese and 2) Add the much requested sector wide and galaxy wide weather mechanic as well ;P
