Description | Project X starship is a dreadnought-ranged craft that uses something similar to beam ammo. However, the ship directly draws from crystal and metal for each shot. I see it working by having its build points correlate to the damage output of each shot, with higher Mk levels running at more efficient ratios for each shot. BP:Damage would initially be 1:1 or worse, while mk 2 and beyond could become anywhere from .75:1 to .25:1. Engineers could of course speed up the charge until a maximum engineering rate of 6 is reached(2 mk 3 engineers). (Un)Fortunately because of the method of firing, this ship demands micromanagement to manually target and fire.
This direct reliance on resources for ammo came about because I have sometimes reached a maximum storage of 600,000 metal and crystal, even when building, and repairing. This unlockable ship is in some ways a micromanaged sniper with almost limitless power and something to put the otherwise wasted crystal and metal to use.
