Summary | 0010805: New Demonaica spells - Build Gate, Haste and Warp
Description | A strategic player can always keep a few steps ahead, no matter how aggravated Demonaica gets. (barring a clever firestorm on a important building.) So, here's some new spell ideas and their intended usage: Build Gate - While a field effect might do one damage a turn, so would 1/1 bats. Demonaica can opt to move to certain map features and erect an Inactive Small Gate. Which would become active the next turn. Normal gates can be planned for, but an errant gate with Demonaica right beside it would need to be handled quickly and carefully. Doesn't produce as many world monsters as active gates, but due to its position could become an increasingly dangerous hazard if not dealth with. Usage: Survivors are scattered and distant, designed to draw survivors away from the fringes. Haste - Demonaica buffs himself with the power of Storm Dash! Can move 5 (maybe 6) tiles for the next 2 turns. Usage: Survivors are close and clustered 4+ tiles away to kite Demonaica around. Warp - Demonaica immediately warps to a warp tile Usage: Survivors are clearly far away from Demonaica, but Demonaica is no where near a warp. Makes revealing warp tiles a more tactical choice.

While interesting ideas, I do not think I like them. The gate summoning especially. Demonaica already a way to summon monsters to himself and his keep. Haste would not work quite so well if he gets the speed boost on the same turn as it is cast. Surprise attacks would be very annoying. Warp, actually sounds like a decent idea. It would be using up one of his precious spells away from monsters and other things in exchange for getting him to a better position. If this was for the players I would be all for it as it would be an interesting strategic decision. As it is for the computer though, it may need further discussion in the forums. |
