Summary | 0010787: Arcade mode
Description | What if someone were to, say, want to only play the side-view mode? What if there was an arcade mode? Core concept: You'd go through 5 worlds and fight the overlord at the end. Each of the 5 worlds is of a single biome and has a henchman fight at the end. After each world you advance to the next tier. Your stats (and the enemy scaling) are scaled to be balanced for this mode specifically. Each world is 2 or 3 levels and maybe a special stage. At the beginning of each world you get to pick 2 mage classes, from the current tier, that you can swap between on the fly for increased flexibility. In special stages you're put on a time limit and you only get one shot at it, but failing is not game over. Succeeding earns you a minor advantage. Examples could include scaling a collapsing level up tower for a random perk, or beating a robotic research facility before it self destructs for an optional feat. Giving the player double jump is probably too big of an advantage but maybe triple jump is fine if you give the player double jump by default or something. I guess you could find extra lives during levels. Probably should have unlimited continues (but the player is exempt from difficulty-clear achievements after using one or something). No, I don't expect this to be added in the near future, but I'm just throwing it out there.
