Summary0010339: Player is invulnerable nearly always in multiplayer
DescriptionI started a new world and played a few turns. Then I put it up as a multiplayer server and had Knight join. I entered a level up tower tile and he shortly did thereafter. I soon noticed I was re-gaining invulnerability when I stopped shooting/moving. This did not happen to Knight, only to me.

After clearing the level up tower, I went to solo an SRF (which oddly started without a wall of towers surrounding it...). I noticed I could now move and still remain invulnerable, and that enemies no longer even aggroed me at all (it is possible this was the case in the previous level). After hacking the mainframe I proceeded to escape unopposed with no extra enemies spawning in.

Also... Every time I broke invulnerability my character performed his attack animation and flashed purple. Attacking/moving breaks invulnerability for 1 frame(?) and then goes back to invulnerable status.

I restarted the game and server and this bug still occurred. I noticed something, though: Enemies only aggroed me if there was another player in the map. Also, when Knight died, the invulnerability lightning particle effect showed up where he died.

Edit: Also for some reason I couldn't pick up health drops that time. I believe I couldn't pick up health the first time as well, but I could when I soloed the SRF.

Has nobody else experienced this bug? I'd really like to know if it's just me or what... Either way it makes multiplayer pretty unfun.

I have not, but it certainly sounds like a bug!

Remember to "strongly support" your own stuff so that it will appear in the tallies. The FAQ for this particular Mantis encourages it to increase visibility, but most people don't seem to do it! (you aren't the only one, and I'll admit I was hesitant to do it until I had read the FAQ)

I did seem to experience this during a brief multiplayer session the other day. I will show support once I get time to test a bit more.

It happens reliably 100% of the time when I host a multiplayer game.

For 0.724:

* MP: Fixed a longstanding bug where text interjections would not work at all in multiplayer unless the application had already been run in singleplayer mode (during that run of the app) and encountered the specific category of text interjection in that mode and thus actually loaded the entries off disk. Any interjection category run into in MP that hadn't been loaded would result in a bunch of strange behavior like permanent invincibility and/or not being able to do anything on the world map.


If you see this again in 0.724 or later please reopen this issue (or start a new one if you prefer).
