Summary | 0007501: Settlement platform coffer exploit
Description | The player is able to drop platforms (or crates) received from the coffers (I seem to recall them being called coffers)in the settlement. The Coffer then resupplies the player with 30 more platforms. Pick up those, drop the stack again, & repeat until you have the desired number of platforms. It's a pretty tame exploit, given how commonly platforms appear in stash rooms. I suggest that the coffers only regenerate their contents once per area transition (or something like that). However, fixing this would have at least one positive side effect. Griefers would no longer be able to spam drop platforms & crates in the settlement, which eventually crashes the server when enough objects are put into the area.

This is actually not easy to fix since you can do the exact same thing by dropping the platforms/crates in any other chunk as well. It's just an infinite source. I think the only think that'll work is to make it generate per time period. So once per mission or per tier. I don't think it's a big deal -- if you really need platforms, go do a mission. Actually if you really need platforms, just go get platforms. Truthfully, the coffer should just be removed altogether. 30 platforms to start out the game is enough. |

Yes, I put this in before the store came out. The coffers could probably be removed now that the store is in place. My impression was that the coffers were put in to ensure that you'd never leave the settlement without having at least a few platforms. Now that the store exists, if you leave the settlement without platforms, it is your own fault, because they are right there, and cheap as heck. |

Well.. unless you are a brand new character in a multiplayer game.. |

Yes, but that would be alleviated by still having a stack of platforms in the settlement, it just wouldn't be the refilling type. It would function just like upgrade stones do(used to?), in that every player can pick up 1 copy of them. So you get a stack of 30 starting platforms, but only once. That's it. |
