Summary | 0004674: Bug with room generation.
Description | In .520, I started a new world, and went into a Memory Crystal Tower, inside I ran into a boss room I created that didn't generate as I expected. As you can see in the attached world file, there is a break in the steps. It should not be there. Screenshot 08_04_30 best shows what I'm referring to. Edit: Room map also uploaded.

Nice ASCII room format. :-) Now I just need to come up with a cunning plan to have Josh design some levels for *my* game... |
Actually, there's an included map editor that lets players define room templates for AVWW. We need to post about that on the forums, but user-created levels are something I think will become big here. |
Yeah, while I *COULD* do it in ASCII, the map editor saves hours. |
What a coincidence! My game has a built-in level editor as well! |
How do you get at the editor, by the way? I'm quite comfortable designing the rooms in ASCII, but some way to test them without dropping them in my game dir and hoping they show up would be nice. :-) |
The editor should be sitting in the main game folder, if you're on windows. Maybe it's in Runtimedata, I can't recall. It's MapEditor.exe, and is a .NET 2.0 project and so windows-only at the moment. You have to import levels from the clipboard by copying them from the file and then hitting import. Same deal with exporting, that puts it to the clipboard and then you paste into the file of your choice. |
Aww, I don't have a Windows machine handy. :-/ At least that explains why I couldn't find it. |
I've seen a similar effect with the BossBowlWithHighPlatform room. The breaks in the stairs seem to be below two tile high gaps with crates above them. Perhaps the game is trying to enforce a three-tile height limit or something? |
Found another one... Bossirregularyaddayadda and the screen shot marked 10_05_55. |
This is still an error. I saw this in a newly generated room just this week. |
Happily, I am unable to duplicate this in the latest versions. |
