Summary0028352: Stealth options
DescriptionIt would be nice to be able to at least try to not draw attention and build up power. I think that I would really enjoy trying to be low and steady while doing everything not to be noticed.

This is definitely something that you can see some early bits of in the early game. The three axes of power in this game, in general, are hard power, soft power, and subterfuge. You've mostly learned about hard power so far, because it's the simplest and earliest thing. There have been a few moments of subterfuge thrown in, but not that many.

Part of the thing about subterfuge is that for it to be meaningful, you have to be the one to think of it. So having it shoved in your face in a guided tutorial really isn't going to give you the same feel. That's one reason I haven't done as much of that yet.

But as you get into chapter two, where things become nonlinear -- and I don't care if a bunch of players miss a piece of content because they didn't figure something out, for example -- then subterfuge and soft power options are going to skyrocket.

A quarter of the android classes (out of about 17) are infiltration-based, and about a third of the vehicle classes are stealth-focused.

You won't ever be able to hide your existence entirely, but think of a magician on a stage. The magician stands there, right in front of you, and directs your attention the way they want. You follow the red ball, or their hands, or whatever else. Meanwhile, their other hand, or their assistant, is doing something you don't notice because of your attention being fully captured in a predicted manner by the magician.

So -- in this game, in general, you're never going to be in a situation where you're just completely stealthy all the time. This would be like nobody realizing the magician is on stage. They already know. They can see the magician. But the whole premise of what makes stage magic, or even up-close street magic, so exciting, is the fact that the trick is done in plain sight, and yet unseen.

One way to explain this is that they think they know what all your forces and capabilities are, but that's just the actual proverbial iceberg tip. In reality you're doing a lot of other things that they're not aware of. This is really really central to the game, but as I mentioned it doesn't fit a tutorial super well where you're being led linearly through key spots of learning.

But never fear! It's coming. :)

I guess I am too early in the game still, I dont have a lot of time each day. I will keep on trying when I have time.
