According to the .519 patch notes, it's intentional: you either kill the monsters yourself or pay 200 red shards to remove the pylon. |

Yea, you're right that it's not an option for other guarded stuff, but it is here. Basically the monsters are making things a bit easier for you by standing in a really high-power area. Proper introduction of magical explosives, no more guards. |
