Summary | 0004641: Suggestion: Skelebot Factory | ||||
Description | A still functioning Skelebot factory. This would be a somewhat rarely seeded item (probably only in time periods where skelebots exits) and once the region it is in is uncovered, every X number of turns (perhaps more often than normal rampaging groups), it would produce a group of rampaging skelebots (Perhaps a larger group than the normal 4 rampaging monsters, it could include things like regular skelebots, sniper skelebots and skelebot giants, perhaps using a mechanic similar to exowaves in AI War [each type of skelebot cost x number of points and each group has Y total points to spend]). These groups would act like normal rampaging groups except they can't be paid off and when they spawn it would say something like 'A skelebot factory made a group of skelebots that are heading toward you settlement'. The factory itself would be a building that you could enter and somehow destroyed to stop building skelebots. It could be destroyed by cutting off power to it or someway else. This building could also be designed to have higher ceilings than normal in order to allow regular skelebots to spawn inside. Also, this build could go against the normal building rule of not having monster spawners (seeing as it is a skelebot factory, it would be able to build new skelebots inside of it). | ||||

I've been thinking about having monster lairs of a specific monster type that would make it possible for nearby monster spawns to include particularly nasty boss types (of that monster type) and thus you'd want to take it out to prevent further "elites". But having those lairs also spawn their own groups wouldn't be totally out of the question either. On the other hand, I am hoping to move away from these groups just spawning in the middle of nowhere with no specific allegiance, etc towards spawning from a logical spot (which a lair would be, actually) from some logical source (the overlord, whatever). Currently we just use the generic bandits/monsters source because it's always at least plausible, whereas there may be situations with no overlord. |

That seems like a good idea, having groups spawn at certain location. If there is no Overlord, there should be Lieutenants at least which they could spawn at. Monster lairs also sound like a cool addition. One reason I made this suggestion was because I like the idea of there being other threats in the world to take out other than Overlords. |

Though don't count the overlords out yet, we just haven't given them much to do yet ;) |

Though don't count the overlords out yet, we just haven't given them much to do yet ;) " Oh, yeah, I expect the Overlords to become nasty but it still nice to have other things to worry about, kind of like in AI War with minor factions adding some challenges other than the AI. |

Your idea sounds intriguing keith, I hope the lair group spawning site makes its way into the game in some form soon. |
