DescriptionI prefer exploring dungeons in bat form; it makes quick work of what would normally be a somewhat tedious exercise in searching for exits and resource deposits. There is only so much platform jumping I can stand before my head wants to explode.
However, having to switch out of bat form just to break a gem is frustrating to me. Too often I will transmogrify at the wrong spot, get my head stuck in a rock, switch back to bat, adjust position, switch again. It's awkward. Even if I don't get stuck in a rock, it is still awkward. It jars my sense of emersion in the dungeon crawl.
I'm not asking to fight mobs as a bat; I understand the balance issues with that. But for background objects, especially resource deposits, I would like 100% power for melee spells.

I think being unable to (easily) break rocks in bat form is reasonable. The real fix is to not have you get stuck with your head in the wall.

Melee spells like Fire Touch don't work as a bat? I thought they did.

Death touch definitely does work - I just tried it.

All spells do work, at 5% effectiveness, in bat form. For example, Death Touch 1, which has 1000 spell power in humanoid form, has only 50 spell power in bat form. That's really too wimpy to destroy resource deposits in a timely fashion, not to mention the high mana cost of 20 per cast. If I knew the HP of a granite boulder off-hand I could do the time and mana cost exactly, but suffice it to say they would both be _very_ high.

Maybe yes, maybe no. I just want a method to efficiently harvest resources that is not nerfed while in bat mode. To me, Death Touch is that spell for deposits, and Energy Pulse for trees. Personally, I don't really see the need for a separate Resource Gather spell as long as EP and DT work at 100% power in bat form. But either way would be fine, as long as I can be batty while doing it!
