Summary | 0004347: Character Sometimes Falls Through Level-Generated Platforms When Against Walls
Description | On Mac (I'm not sure if this is true on other operating systems or not), if you are attempting to jump up level-generated platforms when they are aligned against a single wall or surrounded by two walls (one on each side), I have noticed a tendency for the character to fall through the platforms at certain times. I have noticed that this happens most often if my character is standing on the extreme right side of the platform that is up against a wall on the right side, but I have also noted it happening if standing on the extreme left side of the platform with a wall on the left side. The latter is more rare, but it is definitely happening. I am not 100% sure, but I also seem to notice this happening even more often while I am holding down the A or D and/or Spacebar keys on my Macbook. It is possible that it happens more often while holding down the A or D keys, but I have definitely noticed situations when I'm not holding any keys beside the Spacebar to continue to attempt to jump up the platforms, and then my character will suddenly plunge downwards until I use the A or D key to adjust the character's position. This might be because there is a tiny amount of space between the platforms and the walls they are placed against, or it could be caused by the inclusion of a key being depressed. But it becomes quite annoying when you are attempting to fight a boss and you start plunging downwards even while you are standing on the platforms. Perhaps someone could take a look at this. P.S. I'm not accidentally hitting the down key. This happens far too often for that to be the case :)

I think by "stairs", JamesMowery is referring to the platforms, and I've noticed this too. The image for the platform shows it in a slight perspective view, and I suspect the part of the image showing the side (rather than the front) doesn't count as "floor". If this is indeed the case, it could probably be fixed either by extending the platformness all the way to the edge of the image or by making the image a bit wider so that the part you can't stand on ends up behind the wall. |

Ah yes, jerith! That's what they are called. I have a tendency to think of "stairs" as the world-generated "platforms" and "platforms" as the played-placed wooden... whateveryoucallits. =) Either way, it is something that can be fairly frustrating in the heat of battle. I'm hoping it isn't a difficult fix. |

I updated this to use "platforms" instead of "stairs." |
