DescriptionI pulled this from another (closed) ticket because it never got addressed.

The present strategic meta game is one of resource balancing. I like the premise, but in practice you have to really know what you're doing to get food production right. New players aren't likely going to put down the right structures, in the right order, with the right person in charge.

If players were allowed to demolish existing structures (and recover the resources) this would go a long way in solving this and other problems relating to meta resource management.

This is planned, but the macrogame part still needs a lot of work. Keith has some pretty cool things planned for it.

Thank you for posting this idea separately; we ask for one-thing-per-post because it's much easier to keep track of whether we've dealt with it or not :)

In this case I think this request had already been made yesterday or the day before, which is another reason I didn't mention it in the other thread.

But keep in mind that the strategic resource stuff is very unfinished right now, so obviously it can't really be balanced as a whole until it's... well, a whole :)

P.S. There IS another solution right now, it's just not a fun solution: to make more of the right building, the player can go out an scour the countryside for logs & granite. Logs aren't so bad. An hour or so with the proper spell and a countryside full of trees should do the trick. But granite? I played for 4 hours last night and managed to get 9.

Other solution: find another settlement and rob them of their resources to fix the first settlement.

As you can see, neither of these solutions is good or fun.

No problem :) I'm glad that people care about the strategy layer enough to fuss about it ;) I just wish there were some better way to communicate that it's just not done enough to be very fussable yet. About the only thing I can do in the short term to deal with the complaints is to just disable the settlement-management part altogether, since the strategy map itself doesn't tend to involve much in the way of resources.

Then can there be less complaints about Settlement Mode? At least a low enough number that I have time between reading them to do something _about_ Settlement Mode?
