Description | While fighting bosses the message box appears to stay on for the duration of the fight. The problem is that it blocks the upper right corner of the screen and makes it very hard to attacking the floating orb bosses from that side. Perhaps either having a toggle that turns off the message box, or reduce the duration of the box on screen after entering a boss room. | ||||

Is this the full log box? Have you tried pressing ~ to see if that helps? |

It is the full log box. Hitting ~ actually makes it worse as it lengthens the box with the message about returning to a normal display by pressing the key again. After the boss or group of mini-bosses are dead, the log box appears to return to normal and disappears |

I was thinking about submitting a report on this one as well. I really only ever notice the problem when fighting the lightning or fire orbs. Their AI tends to move them up into the corners and if they're in the top right corner, the status box is very much in the way. |

Trying out the latest patch and the issue seems to have become worse. In my recent game the log box stretched across the top of the screen covering about 3/4th the length of my monitor. This made fighting the orb bosses just about impossible as I can't get an accurate idea where they are above me. |

Yeah I've found this annoying too especially with the amoeba bosses flying into top right corners. I end up clicking the message box which could be a costly mistake one day... I'm finding the message box in general to be a bit iffy though, sometimes it'll cover up the map on the left. |

I think I see part of the problem, when you click on the warp potion icon it brings up a tip in the log box showing how to use it. However, it stretches the log box out and stays up there, keeping the box extended. |

It'd be nice if messages popped up and faded away with no box there, and a box only appeared if you hit ~ to view the messages. |

My devilishly simple solution: (1) Map the message box to the J key (Journal) to toggle the box on and off; (2) Make the box much bigger, perhaps even make it exactly like the semi-opaque box on the home screen that tells you Environ's story. (3) Make the letters bigger. They're currently very small. I have 20/15 vision and I strain a bit to read them. This will give you a Journal you can toggle on or of at will, allowing the player to review their game history. Moreover, it will look far more pleasing to the (my) eye. I really enjoy the way the opening game page looks. The simplicity of the semi-opaque story box is very elegant. With slightly larger and thicker anti-aliased fonts for the text, it would look very polished. I also feel it would lend a deeper connection between the player and the history of his/her world. P.S. I find myself wishing that instead of the story of Environ, I got a recent history of the events in my own world (Adnausea). The story of Environ becomes obsolete at first game play. It would add an element of fullness for the home screen to tell of recent events in the player's world, though this wouldn't really make sense unless there was a "load current world" button instead of the two-click "play game" sequence you currently have to do. Sorry, bit off topic, I suppose. |
