Summary | 0004062: Region Level Seed Issue - All regions level 10 or below
Description | Summary says it all, see world file All region levels in this file are 1-10 - not a single one is above 10 (at least according to the minimap display..) World was created with trial and later game was turned into full. Besides that, its been started with 0.500 Judging from Forums, this issue is not "as designed" However, i can't judge whether i am hugely missing anything here, but i was under the impression i should *see* higher level areas at least somewhere. I explored everything i could access and yeah..

I think my world is a lot like yours. I have a huge number of level 10 regions, and then... nothing new showed up, until I was able to see level 20-24 regions or so. I don't think I've seen any regions at all from levels 11-19. |
Uploaded my world too, same issue. Not reached level 10 yet, so can't check for level 20+ zones. Created with 0.500. |
I've created four worlds to test things out, and all of them only had 1-10. |
What level are you? You shouldn't be seeing areas above level 10 when you first start out. When you gain a few levels, you should then be able to see a few more as you explore. |
Right now, level 6. Still only able to see the places that I was able to when I first created the world. |
Hmm, Chris, based on the forums, a bunch of folks seem to have this one, but I couldn't remember if it belongs to you or Keith. |
On my world (Test World, as lame as can it be), I'm at Civ Level 8 and still the only region explored until I had to quit were lvl 10 max. |
Any idea why this is minor? It creates quite bad hole in region availability in levels (assuming that it goes on at lvl 20+ as it should). My world also has this - let me know if more saves are needed. |
It's not actually minor. I don't know if you can see it or not, but there is a field that only staff can change that is called "Internal Weight". That has it listed as Fix ASAP, and that is the one Chris and Keith look at. This one is on the radar, it won't get lost in the shuffle, I won't let it. :-) |
Yeah, we can all see that field. At least I can, and I don't think I'm special. Also, just got to level 10, and was able to explore... ten'ish more regions. All level 20, meaning I now have a world of a few 1-9, masses of 10, and a few 20. |
Ok, regarding region levels, i've just gotten to lvl 12 (thx evil liutenant), and opened some regions more... most between lvl ranges 20-22. That makes our bug of seeding only lvl 10 or less turn into a "lvl ranges between regions becomes too wide". I know that this was made to reduce world generation (I remember Chris saying this in one of the dev logs), but at the same time, something got screwed in that the gap is becoming too big. |
Toll, yeah, if you can see it, everyone should be able to. Toll and GabrielKronos, thanks both for the updates. |
I flagged it originally Minor because it doesn't really stop you from playing but yeah its a major issue if you encounter it, and seed issues should probably be fixed asap, because every game created potentially has this issue |
* The world map generation algorithm has been improved so that you are always now guaranteed at least one non-ocean region of levels 1-1000 in your world. Previously it was often skipping 11-19, as an example. ** This will take effect for existing worlds as well, but you will most likely have a "crust" of higher-level regions before you get back to the missing lower-level regions on the other side of them, if you were having missing lower-level regions. |
