Summary | 0003971: [Mac] Click-casting while running fires in random (?) directions
Description | Okay, so I'm leaving the settlement for the first time, and I went to kill the rampaging monsters with my hot new fireball. I'm playing with click-casting (right click casting) fireball, and (left click casting) Fire Touch. Mac 0.425 in a 2500x1500 window with vsync enabled. All's well and good... Until I start moving. At this point the fireballs start going in random-seeming (but consistent) directions, usually up into the air at a slight angle from vertical. The angle from vertical is proportional to the actual direction of the cursor, but it doesn't vary by more than 10-15 degrees off vertical. So, I can fire slightly vertical behind or ahead or above me while moving, but nothing else. I confirmed this in my settlement. Happens with Energy Pulse as well. Can't tell with Fire Touch.

Additional testing: If you WALK (control-AD), click casting works as expected. If you WALK then let off CONTROL so you're running... Click casting works until you change direction. If you RUN then WALK then RUN (without lifting the AD key), click casting works until you lift AD |
Even after playing for a while (and filing lots of other issues), the issue still persists. That having been said... I didn't notice it terribly much when playing because when I'm fighting I often stand still. I know, I'm lame. |
This is also extant when I load the Win save file in the Mac. |
This behavior is definitely NOT present in Windows 0.425. Tested with the Mac save game file. |
I can duplicate this, with left and right click firing on my mac. I don't think that this is actually firing a random direction, I think that it is firing at where your cursor was before the game scrolled and moved it. Will investigate. |
Hopefully this will handle it: * The game now more aggressively updates its world coordinates for the mouse cursor, making sure that scrolling-based issues that could happen while your character was running (possibly only during somewhat lower framerate situations than 60fps) should no longer happen. |
* Put in a change to hopefully circumvent an odd bug in Unity OSX where if you hit a keyboard key when the trackpad isn't actively moving, the Y coordinates of the mouse would mysteriously flip negative. This only manifests in the compiled version of AVWW, not in the unity editor, which is why we never saw this until now. ** This seems to fix all of the OSX mouse-related bugs, but please let us know if you see anything else with it. |
