Summary | 0003698: Villain names.
Description | These are names for basically bosses. You'll need version 1693 or later to see the folder that I've started for them. It's under the main Logic/Names folder like other character names. This one is moderately high priority, because we need good villain names for a lot of reasons, but partly for setting the names of teleport points (since teleport points are always to where a boss died). These villain names are fairly generic, in that they can refer to any kind of enemy, but mostly these are non-human enemies you can presume. We might do some more specific kinds of villain name collections in the future, but for now this should serve most purposes. There are two folders VillainPart1 and VillainPart2. It appends those two together in order with no space in between. So be sure to capitalize the first part, but not the second. Unless you want to do something like a hyphen and then a capitalized second part. That could work for variety. These are... really important names. And they'll be used a LOT throughout the game. Way, way more than any specific other kind of character name, since there are so many bosses around. I'd therefore like to really have more of these name parts than usual. Ultimately I'd like 500 each of part 1 and part 2 names -- that would give a quarter of a million unique boss names, which is a good place to start out with. :) The second part should always start with a consonant or a hyphen, and most of the first parts should probably end with a vowel. So you get things like Hasha + liba, or Woro + xanu, making Hashaliba and Woroxanu in-game. You could also do a few things in the part 2 where it's something like " The Great" so you get "Hasha The Great" or something like that. As long as it fits the pattern such that you don't get funky combinations that will be invalid-looking to players, I'm happy with whatever you do. Also, I'd note that not ALL part 1s need to end with vowels. Some first consonants really work well with a non-vowel ending. Such as Kef, potentially. So you get Kef + ka = Kefka. Or Kef + deru = Kefwinu. I suspect there are many fewer of those that actually work. And of course bear in mind that if some of the words in the part 2 would start with the same letter, you might wind up with things like Kef + finu = Keffinu. So it has to be a consonant that can plausibly be doubled in order to work as the last letter of the first part. I guess that's basically f, l, m, s, t... a few others. Even b or d can work, I guess. That's it!

500+ for each. Hand-crafted in a lot of ways I might add! I sat with a pen and pad and wrote nearly all of these out, saying example combos out-loud, and only used thesauruses and name generators when inspiration was absolutely needed. |

Wow, wicked stuff! That is really, really awesome. :) |
