Summary | 0003557: Consumable item: tents.
Description | These would be pretty expensive to make, as consumable items go, but they allow you to create a tiny little "building" that you can go into to take shelter from enemies.

"(Player running from skelebots) (Player deploys magical tent and hops in) (Skelebots cackle and throw in a bag of holding)" Yes, please. I support this happening. As far as the actual idea itself, what's my motivation to use it? If it's really expensive in terms of resources, I'm probably not going to want to spend them on making one, and if all it does is let me hide inside it and...what, do nothing? What good does that do me? I still have to come out at some point and get out of there somehow. It'd buy a few seconds for healing to let cooldowns wear off, but other than that, meh. You're constantly tripping over doors/transitions anyway, which give you temporary invincibility. The only serious motivation I can see for using one is a mobile crafting station or something, so if you're just about out of scrolls, you can throw down a tent in a last-ditch attempt to save your life and make some more healing items or warp scrolls to escape. That seems possibly cheesy, though, and would maybe need restrictions on where it could be used or what could be crafted there, depending on how much you have to sink into making a tent in the first place. Either way, just a hole to hide in is very underwhelming. I'm not sure what bonus you could add to it to make it interesting enough to use without it being brokenly powerful, or if that were compensated for with the cost of crafting (needing some kind of rare commodity), ending up like megalixers in FF games. Speaking of which, FF-style "restore all hp/mana" tents would be pretty uninspiring, too, considering how potions basically grow on trees. Heh. |

Yeah, this is a really old idea -- one that languished here and now needs to be closed. :) |
