Summary | 0003275: "Fixed Layout" map style
Description | (This expands upon 0002808.) While complete map customization goes against the spirit of AI War (per http://www.arcengames.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=AI_War_-_Design_Complexity#Why_Does_The_Game_Force_Variety_On_The_Player.3F), it should be possible to provide a specific galaxy layout (i.e. planets and wormholes), and then apply the standard randomization (player-available planets, bonus ship types, planet contents) afterwards. A dead-simple format for specifying the layout would be this: Name: X, Y (x10-120, specifies a planet's name and location) Name, Name (xLots, specifies a wormhole connecting two systems) Displays an error message if two system names match, an unknown system is specified in a wormhole, or a wormhole is specified twice. It's possible to specify a disconnected layout, that is, one where some planets cannot be reached from other planets. This should be handled either directly (essentially implementing 0003274 in the process) or by rejecting any disconnected maps. Other sanity checks (e.g. no connected-to-everything planets) may also be a good idea.
