Summary | 0003053: Building MK II Engineers without doing the research.
Description | I am fairly new here, but I don't think this is how this is supposed to work. I created a new game and loaded the CTRLS settings from disk from my previous game. In my previous game, I had researched MK II engineers and set the game to produce two on each world I own. In this new game, it is still producing two MK II engineers on each world I capture, even though I have yet to research it. Edit: I've also included the previous save. Anyhow, I didn't intend the names to be boastful at all, or even to be seen by the general public. They just exist so I can recognize the save files.

I've just tried to recreate this, and failed at it. When I save to disk with any engies being autobuild, globally and/or planet specific, than load these settings again in a new game, it as most sets these sliders back to 0(which doesnt seem right either). Doesnt seem to matter what I actually have unlocked, if I copy from disk before or after unlocking higher tier engies, no matter what I do I cant seem to recreate it. Can you recreate the behaviour in a new game? I may try your savegame later today to see if I can recreate it (you can get higher ties engies without unlocking them anyway, but I find it MUST require some effor :D). |
Well, I am not entirely sure why it happened, but I didn't put any effort into it. Might it have something to do with turning up the number of planets from 40 to 60 or enabling all of the expansions? There is no way I controlled for all of the variables. I might try to recreate it, but I promise nothing today. I have other things I need to do. :( |
when you started the new game, did you capture any other systems? note that your homeworld always starts out with 2 mk II engineers, regardless of you unlocking them or not. If you in fact did capture other planets and found that the same thing happened on those new worlds, then it is odd indeed. |
AI planets have engineers floating around as well, did you capture engineers with parasites/leech starships without realising? |
@Zoutzakje: I realized that the homeworld comes with a compliment of 2 MK II engies (as well as 2 MK II scouts). 2 new MK II engineers are built whenever I capture a new system, and I have captured 6 systems by now (the save posted here is old, so I will be replacing it with a more recent one). @Sir T: No, I am not using parasites this game and have a grand total of 3 leech starships. I have yet to see my leeches capture an enemy engineer (although that was common enough with my parasites in the previous game), and I gain 2 engineers too consistently on planet capture for me to just be reclaiming them randomly. Would somebody please try loading my first save, saving the CTRLS to disk, then creating a new game and loading the CTRLS from disk? I think that that should replicate the issue. On a side note, would someone please tell me how I can delete an old uploaded file on Mantis so I can replace it with a new file of the same name? |
