Description | Cross posting this from the discord server: I LOVE an idea Slay the Princess played with where the game flags dialogue options that lead to content you haven't experienced yet. That game's implementation of this idea was deeply flawed in ways that are difficult to explain without spoiling the game, but I think the premise is great and one that could stand to be refined and dropped into almost any game designed for heavy replayability and a vast number of branching paths that frequently have mutually exclusive outcomes: having the game gently nudge you toward doing things you haven't done before to experience more new shiny. I don't think this would primarily be about achievement integration, although that's an easy corollary. And it's definitely not about holding your hand. When a choice has to be made, especially where the outcomes might be mutually exclusive, it's about having the game point you toward parts of it that you haven't experienced yet. When the game gives you a list of options to choose from, it could be as unobtrusive as an icon next to the appropriate ones and you can mouse over it to get the hint. | ||||

Thanks! * Starting with this build, the game now internally tracks how many times you have previously chosen a choice in events (which includes contemplations). ** This is stored in the cross-timeline metagame, and starting in chapter three, it will start showing you this information when you are in events in fresh timelines. There's no way to test this yet, as I'm not actually showing that yet even if you use a cheat to skip to chapter three. But this will be testable in a few weeks. ** The general idea is to help highlight things you have done before, potentially a lot of times before, versus things you have never done before. This will become increasingly relevant as the volume of content increases. |

* Both dialog choices, and "did you do this contemplation at all" also now track how many times they have been chosen in the metagame, for use later in chapter three. ** Simply opening a contemplation and then not doing anything and closing it does not count. Similarly, starting a debate option and then never succeeding in it does not count. ** Again, these can't be tested until chapter three is properly available. But since this relies on historical data, saving this data a few weeks in advance is a good idea. |

* Okay, now the machine projects also track how many times you have done any given outcome, across timelines. I think that this is the last of the "big choice that needs to be remembered for future timelines" data. |

Thanks! * Once you are in chapter three, the tooltips for contemplations show how many times you have done them in other timelines, including "never." ** In events, it shows the end of time icon and a number next to it if you've chosen an option before, and in the tooltip, if it has one, it says it more fully like with the contemplations themselves. This particular one includes repeat choices in the same timeline, unlike with contemplations. *** This is also done in dialog choices. ** The idea is to help folks find fresh content, or things they have done more infrequently. ** I have not tested this at all yet, so hopefully it works.
