Description | AI Eyes can be destroyed by destroying all guard posts... but what happens if the AI Eye planet is low population, and has a forcefield covering a guard post, or even worse, a Spire Shieldpost. It's pretty hard to take out 300 million HP in a reasonable time with 30 bombers early game, and bringing in more forces could be detrimental. Sure, with the FF problem Raid Starships can work, but for the Spire Shieldpost you can either kill the AI Eye or kill the Shieldpost, each of which takes about the same amount of time (forever). | ||||

Bomber starships hardly do any damage when we're talking over 300 million health. Remember, no multipliers. They do great damage against other starships and smaller posts, sure. 4 Bomber Starship Mark I vs AI Spire Shield Post Mk II: 903 seconds 4 Bomber Starship Mark I vs AI Eye: 1087 seconds Fifteen Minutes. 78 Bomber Mark III vs AI Spire Shield Post Mk II: 272 seconds 78 Bomber Mark III vs AI Eye 226 seconds I'm not looking forward to the higher level spire shield & eye combos, short of a nuke, or always going for the spire post first. I can go for the shield post first, with all the bomber fleetships I can safely fit in, but it also looks to be an unfun solution. The first time I made the mistake of not going straight for the AI eye residing under the Spire Shield I started thinking about warheads. But lightning doesn't do enough damage, and I can't use EMP to bypass the shield part - i have to take down the post anyways. |

There'll be much fever AI Eyes now, with 4.067. Although, any kind of forcefield has a massive HP, still making them hard to destroy. I wish Siege Starships or Zenith Bombards weren't using antimatter bomb. I avoid them now... |

Ignore bomber starships except as a last-build. All the startships pretty much suck except the flagship line, and that one only because they can boost fleet ships. The others have a few edge cases where they are useful, but their stats per cap are generally ridiculously low for their knowledge cost compared to fleet ships. You should be deciding to blow up all posts or blow up the AI Eye first, and act accordingly. If you're blowing up all posts, be sure to blow up FF covered or FF posts first. If you're blowing up the AI Eye first, DON'T ATTACK ANYTHING ELSE AFTER CLEARING THE ENTRY WORMHOLE SHIPS. Go the long way around the slow edges of the system and take sniper fire if you have to. As a side note, perhaps the AI type Starship Commander should get no or only the minimum 2 AI Eyes. They only spawn guardians and starships right? |

As a last resort against non starship commanders, leave the system alone until the WH gates repopulate the system some. |
