Summary0022878: Hacking prompt 'no' reponse
DescriptionSomething that happened a few versions back and I haven't been able to change it. Currently I don't get AI units when I hack something, allowing for hacking the SuperTerminal above 80+ AIP with no difficulty.

I suspect Galatic War mod might have caused it but I remain unsure. I have deleted the mod as well as entire folders of the game, then used check file, still nothing.

What exactly should I delete to try and get the response back?

The problem is still active with the expansion. I haven't been able to track down the problem.

The Hacking xml files has the "reponse" data but no ship are generated by ARS, GCA, Fleet Extender, Super Terminal.

I am stumped. It does make the game a lot easier but it's odd.

There's a setting under "Debug" to print some hacking debug information when you try to hack. That information goes into the arcen debug log.

Removing mods and verifying files didn't solve the problems.

So far I took the nuclear option of uninstalling and reinstalling on another drive (as mentioned in another report). It solved the problem, though I was working on the "error on world generation".

I did when I first remember the problem happening. I initially mistook the lack of ships appearing when hacking to a design choice of the mod. Apparently that isn't the case.

Weirdly enough, not even an uninstallation then install of the game on another drive solved the problem. I'd suspect some setting issue being carried by steam cloud, but I do believe my settings got reset at some point due to beta shenanigans.

I'll look up the hack debug log.

Here is lots of data to figure out the problem.

3 saves and 3 logs. A save and log after an ARS reroll. No ship appeared. 1 saves and log done during a subvert hack of the Super Terminal. 1 last save and log taken after ST-hack auto-completed when I ran out of hacking points: 95AIP removed that way (easy to do, since there are no ship to stop me).

The "zombification" notice spam in the log must comes from "Zombify everything" mod by swizzlewizzle. A bit verbose in the log, but I didn't have it activated when the problem appeared.

I had "Hacking debug" option activated the whole time. Hope that helps. (It isn't that big of a deal not to have the bug, though it's very curious and does make the game significantly easier.)

The changelog for 2.012 doesn't mention it, but the problem has been fixed somehow.

AI Units do appear again when hacking anything. The "Expected AI response" when hovering over hacking points also show proper 0.5 or 2.0 values rather than 0.0

Further checking show that the problem comes from the Wormholes Invasion setting.

Apparently if you set it to -1 like with the mod below, then the Hacking Response is set to 0.0

Removing the mod (and allowing the Wormholes invasions) allows the hacking response again.

Oddly I tested that before and it didn't fix it, so I guess there were bugfixes that fixed something else conflicting with the mod removal.
