| Description | Most damage multipliers are 10x are below, but sabot posts get an absolutely massive 100x multiplier. The knock-on effect of this is that while you can use most ships against most guard posts with at least moderate success, a single sabot post is a complete roadblock to anything it gets the bonus against. I'm ok with hard-counters like this (AIWC was full of them), and I'm ok with the soft-counter system that's used through the rest of the game, but having frigates be hard-countered while other ships are only soft-countered seems to be a big balance point against frigates. | ||||

It's the successor to the Arachnid Posts from Classic, which couldn't fire on anything below Starship size. I've no issue with this and not really planning to change it. Most other Posts are multi-shot and have issues actually killing a Frigate, and the MLRS Post is an extreme example of that, so is the opposite of the Sabot. In terms of the total DPS including the bonus, the Sabot is on the lower side as well. If I changed it to be more like the other Posts, it'd not really be notable. Maybe in future? I dunno. |

Fair enough. I hadn't really considered the drawbacks of multi-shot. |
