| Description | Mercenaries will destroy Instigator Bases, but they won't touch DataCenters even after the rest of the targetable AI stuff on the planet is gone. Not sure whether this is a bug or intentional, but if the latter then a clarification of that (perhaps in the DataCenter tooltip) would be nice. Included a save which showcases the merc strike taking everything out pretty much everything on Dewdney but the DataCenter. | ||||

This is intentional. Stuff like Data Centers can only be killed by players (otherwise the Dyson Sphere or Marauders might kill them). |

Might be worth creating a system for distinguishing between valid merc targets versus what others will target, down the line. That sort of thing could be applicable to a lot more than DataCenters and mercs, giving tighter control on a faction-by-faction basis. But for the issue at hand, if mercs could take out DataCenters, then that could cause a balance issue, though more dangerously it might offer a usually optimal way of dealing with DataCenters. |
