Summary0002671: Minor faction units auto-kite based on player settings
DescriptionNoticed this with resistance fighters, though I think also marauders do this too. To test, get a minor faction ship into battle with auto-kiting off. Then set auto-kiting to 1, and watch all those ships try to distance themselves when they weren't previously.

Would you like a save where I have plenty of resistance fighters flying around so you can quickly test this?

Not sure what would happen in a multiplayer game where two different players have different auto-kiting settings. I'm guessing the minor factions would "copy" the host's setting, but I'm not sure.

Yea, all PlayerAlly and EnemyToAll minor faction units are assigned to player 0 (the first human player) so the host's auto-kite setting doubles as a "Dance!" command to the minor faction stuff ;)

Good catch. Just need to make the auto-kite stuff not apply to minor faction stuff (or zombie, for that matter).
