Summary | 0009940: Spire Gravity Drain and Gravity Ripper have low-cap style properties
Description | The SGD and SGR have caps of 48 at normal caps yet they have some odd attributes that don't seem to belong on ships of that cap: - Engine health of 100k: Effectively infinite as the unit will die long before that much engine damage accumulates, all it does is make spider units think they stand a chance of doing something to these. - Immunity to reclamation and paralysis: These seem just out of place, especially now that gravity effects are stopped by paralysis. I would suggest stripping these attributes from the gravity ripper while making the gravity drain a really low cap unit: A single drain can affect a whole army, whether you're facing one or one hundred only makes a difference in how long they take to kill, at the current caps the AI has a few of them practically everywhere, completely invalidating melee units and transports without armed escorts. Rippers need to have numbers because they only affect a single target. Invalidating reclaimers, paralysers and spiders on a fairly common unit with no special reason for that seems wrong.

All Spire fleetships have those properties, AFAIK. But should they? |
|
The only other cap 48 spire fleetship is the teleporting leech, then there's the miniram at cap 20 and a bunch of low-cap units. The leech should probably not be paralysis immune but of course as a reclaimer it gets the reclamation immunity. Minirams are suicide units, those get different immunities anyway though making them reclaimable could be funny (not sure that wouldn't interfere with the suicide logic though). 100k engine health is probably nonsense in all cases though, engine damage values aren't high enough to trigger that in a reasonable amount of time and in any real situation the unit will die long before that engine health is depleted so infinite would do the job just as well and make spiders smarter. On the cap 48 units 1k (or something like 400) engine health might be a more fitting solution. So basically, 100k engine health -> lower or make inf to stop it from confusing spiders teleporting leech -> drop paralysis immunity but keep reclamation immunity gravity drain -> make low cap, keep immunities the same gravity ripper -> drop immunities |
